In today’s uncertain global economy, there is exceptional opportunity for those who learn a skilled profession. As an example, the heating, ventilation, air conditioning & refrigeration industry is always in need of skilled workers to help create comfortable environments in buildings throughout the country. These careers can provide men and women with a rewarding, secure job & the ability to earn a good income.
TONY SAPORITO: “The HVACR industry is a great way for young people and veterans to get into an industry where the training will be provided for them and they can earn while they learn. They are learning different aspects of a trade that will carry them through an entire career, without compiling any college debt.”
HVACR technicians not only need to be mechanically inclined, but also possess computer skills in order to work on the highly advanced systems that exist today. It’s a unique skill set that can provide a great balance of learning while earning money in the industry.
FRANK: “I have been in the HVAC industry for almost 18 years. And I love it because it has given me such a sense of security: to provide for my family, to be able to use my income to do things, to give me more security, even outside of my job. And I have the benefit of knowing that at the same time you are working, you are also building a very good retirement pension to provide more security for your family.”

TONY SAPORITO: “HVACR Career Connect NY was created to bring talented individuals into an industry they might not otherwise have known about. It provides free training, great career opportunities, great wages, and a varied work style. HVACR technicians can achieve great things in this industry. The amount of training that is provided can take technicians anywhere they want to go. Advance training is available, 21st century training is available, high technology is inherent in our industry, and will be for years to come.”
Through training & education entirely sponsored by employers, new technicians get to learn a diverse set of skills – including brazing, plumbing, electrical systems, rigging, IT & customer service – while being paid to work as a junior technician or apprentice.
MAKAI: “When I first came in here, I actually knew nothing at all. But the mechanics took me step by step through everything, and just kind of brought me to the point where I’m at now. HVACR is great because it’s hands-on. I love the fact that I can use my head, and I can get things up and running. I recommend anyone to look at HVACR as a career, because it’s job security for yourself. If you know what you’re doing, you’re always going to be employed, you’re always going to have a job, and you’re always going to have work.”
HAYDEE: “It’s my fifth term here now, and I can sit here and say from the beginning to now, I have excelled drastically. I went from not being able to read an electrical diagram, looking as if it was a foreign language to me, to being able to troubleshoot in the field, without having to make a phone call or have someone guide me through it. Not only that, but the teachers here make you feel comfortable. They’re very family oriented; it’s like we’re one team. There’s not a lot of opportunities that people know out there for women. I wound up getting into the apprenticeship program through the company I worked for, and I’ve been there four years so far, and I’m in my fifth term of 638 training. HVACR Career Connect definitely changed my life.”
TONY SAPORITO: “Future plans for HVACR Career Connect NY include teaching technicians the importance of artificial intelligence, the internet of things (IOT), sustainability, and green building. The best part of my job is to be part of an organization that can provide great opportunities for individuals. The HVACR industry is just that.
